"The Autopsy of a Decade"

An unexamined life is said to be a wasted life. At the beginning of this year, my Prince of Preachers (PoP) preached a sermon with the title of this post. He asked us to examine our life in decades and ask ourselves what were the benefits, bruises and lessons of the decade.

I finished my First Degree in 2010. At the time, I had plans of what the next decade 2010-2020 would be. One of the plans was to write this book. Over the course of two years, I wrote about 80 pages of thought and I was planning to write more. The cover design was done by Osoba Osaze in 2012 and same year I wrote the summary of the book.

"Thankfully", I did not write the book. The Idea that informs the book was born while I was undergraduate and embodies one of my core principles for living.

I am putting up this post not because I plan to write it now or publish it soon. The purpose of this is to say few things. First, It is okay sometimes not to crush a goal. "uncrushed" goals like this sometimes remind people with AA personality like me that life happens and somethings are beyond you. It is also a reminder to me that some aspect of my life can benefit from improvement in other forms of intelligence like adaptative intelligence . Personally, this year for me has been a training and strengthening of my adaptative muscle. Adaptability in certain areas is one of my least favourite emotions but everyday of 2020 has been a learning curve. Thankful for the last decade and hopeful for the decade to come. Secondly, don't feel like a failure if you did not crush all your goal for 2020 or even for the decade. I know some people started the year with a feather of chicken and now they own a poultry farm. Thank God for them. As for me surviving 2020 is a success in itself.

Happy Sunday!
